Hello, welcome! This was originally posted on my old site on 09/28/15, which has been redirected to my new URL. If you are reading this, you are on the new site. I’m happy to have you here! Take a minute to have a look around the new site and maybe visit the categories page. That’s a good place to start. 🙂
I’ve had this blog for over 3 years now and for the past 2 years have been wanting to migrate to a self-hosted wordpress site on my own domain. I started the process a whole entire year ago. There was lots of reading and research involved to educate myself on the topic and try to make sure as much as possible that I took all the right steps during this process. The new site is still being tweaked and I can guarantee there will be changes happening here and there even after the launch as I try to make the site look and function that way I want.
You are currently seeing this on the old blogspot site, but the new site is live and everything will be redirected to the new domain over the weekend, October 3rd-ish. *Edit: you are now on the new site.
My new address: www.theweathereddoor.com
For anyone interested I purchased hosting through *Bluehost and I am running the *Tasteful child theme on the *Genesis framework. The theme if from *Restored 316 which offers feminine wordpress themes with many layouts to choose from based on content of your site. I love the simplicity of the theme but have been customizing different aspects of it with the help of Lindsey from Verity Web Solutions.
As far as any action required on your part, I am working to make sure all readers make the move with me. I know there are many ways to follow blogs and I’ve done my best to move as many readers as I can.
Email subscribers: I will be importing all of your email addresses and moving them over to the new site.
Bloglovin’: All followers who follow using Bloglovin’ will also be moved over to the new address, I’m working with Bloglovin’ to get that done.
Social Media – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube: All of my social media accounts will stay the same, so if you follow via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, or Youtube nothing will be changing.
If you follow through other blog reader sites please bookmark my new site and add the url to the list of blogs you follow so you don’t miss out on new content.
Speaking of content I want to mention that you can expect the same quality content and posts from me. Other than a new url and a new look to the blog I’ll still be posting Before & Afters, DIY projects, Tips and Tutorials, and sharing some blogging, photography, and tools/resources. I’ve said it here before, but my goal is to create content that provides information and inspiration. For more about that go to the About page.
I have a couple furniture makeover posts coming up that will be on the new site once it is launched. I also have another video tutorial in the works. Here’s what you can expect over the next few weeks:
- Bamboo Nightstand Makeover
- Mid Century Dresser Before & After
- Staining Video Tutorial
- Updated ‘How I Paint Furniture’ post
I’m excited about the new website and the new features that I get to implement. I’ve tried to keep the same pages and features here on the old site as well as new one to help you find relevant content. Thank you for taking the time to read this, the next I’ll see you will be over on the new site!

Hi! Congrats on your new website! I have been a follower since 2011 or 2012. Although the only thing i can do to support your site is to just visit it, I still choose to follow…
The photos you post are fantastic! I remember the time when i asked if i can get a photo from one of your posts (the teal table) so I can make it my wallpaper or background in my blog. You allowed me.
My point is I’m just so happy on this milestone of your blog. I wish you more visitors and more furniture makeover =)
Oh and I’m surprised that you are actually a girl. =)
