I got two side tables last week. I painted this one this weekend, but the other one needs some fixing before I can get to work on it.
Out of the two, this one is better quality. It is heavy, sturdy, and solid. Whoever had previously stained it had no clue what they were doing. The stain was dripped down the sides, and the protective coat had bubbles in it.
I sanded the table down, wiped it clean, then got to work. I used a very light grey color. The table needed 3 coats of paint to cover all the dark wood. I let it cure for 24 hours, then sealed the piece with SC Johnson Paste Wax. After waxing the table, I decided to distress the edges to show the layers around the top. I made sure to put on a little more wax over the places that were distressed, then I was finished!
I always seem to have an update on a finished piece on Sunday’s or Monday’s. It is because I get the weekend to work… and get more furniture!
