I shared the before of this buffet a couple weeks ago, and now I have pictures of it all done! It started out like this, in all its oak glory.
I went grey and neutral on it since it is such a large, statement piece. The color is Gauntlet Grey by Sherwin Williams and is is a perfect warm-ish grey. The piece did not need any sanding, but it did get wiped down with a cleaner prior to painting. It got 3 coats of grey, and then it cured overnight. I sealed it with Maison Blanche La Craie clear wax, buffed to a light sheen, and the old hardware got switched out for some new pulls from Hobby Lobby. I always think hardware makes a piece and I think these newer pulls look great on it.

That is a big beautiful buffet in a great shade of gray! Love the new knobs too! It really doesn't even look like the same piece. I had to scroll back to the before shot. Nicely done!

I have a poece that needs to be done and your piece reminds me of mine. Nice pick of color. So when you say Gaunlet Gray by Sherwin Williams was it egg shell, flat, satin, high gloss? That would help me considerably. The knobs look very expensive . The whole piece has new life. Good job!
Reeves @ The Weathered Door says
I really like the knobs on the buffet! Hardware can make a piece so much better.

Love your finish and the hardware really makes the piece! I recently painted my two dinning hutches a similar gray and wasn't sure about the out come. I think some unique hardware is the answer:) I'll share when I finish that. Thanks for the pot! http://www.sewsweetvintage.com/2013/07/vintage-swimwear.html

HI I am painting a dresser, night stand and bed frame in Sherwin Williams Gauntlet Grey (Emerald Satin) , inspired by your post 🙂 , but I am getting many brush strokes, the paint seems thick. I was thinking I should use a paint additive, and maybe sand again before the third and final coat. Any suggestions? Thanks, Kathy
marsha says
Her method is quite detailed. I read about it under Paint Method at the top of this page. Many, many steps. Good luck.
